Youth Violence and Youth Gangs by Dr. Joanne Cummings, PREVNet (Promoting Relationships and Eliminating Violence)

Youth Depression by Dr. Marcus Feak, Whitby Mental Health Centre

Concurrent Disorders by Art Mathews, Whitby Mental Health Centre

Resilience and Communities by Joanne McQuiggan, Thrive Canada

This full day workshop will examine current research and best practices that strengthen youth resiliency and young people's ability to manage mental health issues. Part of the day will involve concurrent sessions that provide and overview of the signs, symptoms and effective approaches in addressing the following mental health issues: i) Concurrent Disorders ii) Youth Violence and Youth Gangs and iii) Adolescent Depression. This workshop will include interactive group discussions that will help the York Region community build on available assets to help strengthen youth resiliency and better cope with these specific mental health issues.


How to Register:

Registrations for this workshop will be accepted on a first come first served basis. Registrations from individuals who reside or work in York Region will be prioritized.

A registration fee of $125.00 is required to participate in this event.

Workshops have limited space. Registrations will be accepted on a first come first served basis. Organizational representation may be limited in some cases to increase accessibility.

Confirmation of enrollment in specified workshop will be provided by email following receipt of registration and payment.

Cancellation policy: Requests for refunds must be submitted in writing ten working days prior to the event. Cancellations are subject to a $25.00 administration fee. Substitutions will be accepted.
